Reverse Engineering

We analyse an existing board, assembly or harness and rebuild its documentation, so you can re-source, repair or localize it when the original drawings or the supplier are gone. You get a part that matches, and the files to make it again.

What we do

What's Included

  • Analysis of an existing board, assembly or wiring harness
  • Rebuilding the documentation: drawings, bill of materials and connection details
  • A matching part that can be made again
  • Files that let you re-source, repair or localize it
  • Support taking the part into manufacture

What we need from you

  • A working sample of the part, plus a spare if possible
  • What the part does and where it is used
  • Any partial drawings, datasheets or part markings you have
  • How many you need once documented

No drawing yet? Tell us what the product has to do and we will work out the next step with you.

Questions

Reverse Engineering: Common Questions

What is reverse engineering in electronics?

Reverse engineering means studying an existing product to work out how it is built and rebuilding its documentation. For electronics that includes the drawings, the bill of materials and how the parts connect, so the product can be made again.

Can you reverse engineer a part when the supplier no longer exists?

Yes. That is the usual reason to do it. We rebuild the documentation so you can re-source, repair or localize the part when the original drawings or the supplier are gone.

What have you reverse engineered?

Our examples include a USB feed-through filter and a lift switch button, both rebuilt with documentation so they can be supplied again.
